Getaway to Langkawi, the Jewel of Kedah (Part 2)

Hi, everyone!!

So, I blogged Day 1 of my trip in Langkawi, and now the remaining days.

DAY 2
We had our breakfast in Red Tomato Restaurant & Lounge. For those who are planning to go to Langkawi, there's a different between Nasi Tomato Kandar (Malay and Indian food) and Red Tomato Restaurant & Lounge (Western food), although they are both in Pantai Cenang, so don't get confuse.

Red Tomato Restaurant & Lounge
The interior of almost every restaurant is quite dim no matter day or night...

And so, we tried their signature dishes:

Egg Benedict RM 19.00
Egg Benedict comes with a choice of salmon, beef, chicken ham or mushroom for vegetarians and are wrapped with 2 poach eggs. We chose salmon. I like how they present it. It looks simple on the outside but there's something unexpected on the inside. Think about it, one can't be full with just eggs and salmon, right? So, there are protein, fibre, fats,... and what's missing? That's right, carbohydrates!! I will let you guess what "carbohydrates" they use. One small dish contains all the essential nutrients in it, isn't that make the perfect breakfast?

Farmer's Choice RM 12.50
Farmer's Choice, too, comes with a choice of chicken ham or mushroom. It also comes with bread and butter. There's a surprise in this dish too - CHEESE!!! I totally love this dish.

After our delicious breakfast, we went to Underwater World which is located at the opposite of the restaurant. As we entered once it opened, it was really warm inside and it took about an hour to cool. (My advice: go after 11a.m.). For your convenience, here I attached the animal feeding sessions:

Animal Feeding Sessions (commencing on 1st October 2011)
African Penguin
11:00 am and 2:45 pm daily
Rockhopper Penguin
11:15 am and 3:00 pm daily
Furseal
02:30 pm daily
Tunnel Tank
03:30 pm daily

It was my first time entering Underwater World, and I am surprised to see species that I can only see on the internet, such as:

Albino Axolot Salamander
Ribbon Jellyfish
Mudskipper
Aren't they really cute and beautiful?

Underwater World is connected to Coco Valley and The Zon Duty Free. The Zon Duty Free sells other stuff too besides chocolate. However, their chocolate selections are not as many compared to Coco Valley. The chocolates that I found in Coco Valley is:

Nutella Ferrero & Go! RM 3.50
I can't find this version of Nutella in Klang Valley and amazingly Langkawi has it almost in every chocolate stores! Coco Valley sells the cheapest as there is still one month before expired, but it is ok as I can finish it in a few days (ended up buying one box). Most stores sell RM 3.90, some do sell RM 4.90. So, hunt for the cheapest and BEWARE of the date of expiration.

Apple Cider 4.5% alcohol - RM 4.90
Since Day 1 Vodka was delicious, so we bought apple cider to try, but I still prefer the Vodka one.

Then, we had our lunch in Deng Long Seafood Restaurant in Pantai Tengah as this restaurant receives good reviews from other travellers.

Salted Egg Crab - RM 38 (3 pieces)
This is their signature dish. You can choose the crabs yourself. There are a few kind of crabs. For RM 38, you'll get 3 pieces of small crabs. For other crabs, they are RM 8/100g. Since we are all newbies and with budgeting in mind, we chose the former. Nevertheless, they were satisfying.

Thai Style Fried Rice - RM 7
Seafood Fried Rice - RM 10
Since we were not very hungry due to the breakfast and the early lunch, these were the only things we ordered. -.-|||

After the lunch, we drove to Langkawi Parade Mall in Kuah. Initially, I wanted to buy cosmetic products for my internships but ended up buying more chocolates. This is the place where my friend bought RM 14.90 After Eight. Nougats were the only things I bought RM 9.90 per pack. There are also a few chocolates from Japan which are hardly found in other shops. There is only one shop that sells chocolates, it is located inside a shop (women's department) something like Parkson, Jusco (I forgot what it is called) and you need to walk down a stairs.

Later, we went to Eagle Square, which is a place that reflects the origin of Langkawi's name.

Then, we went to Jalan Pandak Mayah, where most duty free stores are located. Here, we bought more chocolates. We visited almost all the stores that sell chocolates.

Rittersport - RM 5.50/pack
While Rittersport can be found almost in every stores, but Strawberry Yogurt is rare. I bought 3 of it and my friend bought another 3, total RM 30. So, is RM 5 per pack!!

Lotte Ghana Black Chocolate - RM 10.50
For dinner, we went to bazaar. Since it is Ramadhan, the bazaar opens at 4.00pm. Inititally, we planned to go to night market in Kuah. Since bazaar is right in front of our eyes and we were really tired from all the shoppings, we chose bazaar. We picked some food and quickly went back to resort. After a quick dinner, some of my friends went to the beach while some stay in the resort. As I was really tired, I stayed in the resort. We thought of going to Yellow Cafe as we did not go on Tuesday, but we were exhausted and that's all for DAY 2.

DAY 3
We had breakfast in Cactus Restaurant which is located in Pantai Tengah, opposite of Holiday Villa.

Chocolate Pancake - RM 16
Chocolate Pancake comes with a chocolate drink below.

Omelette (I forgot the fullname) - RM 19
Omelette, too, comes with a drink, but orange juice (small glass). Overall, the food were good. A little comment on the restaurants I went. They are all quite dim and there are mosquitoes, especially at night. Although they do provide insect repellent, bring one just in case.

After breakfast and checking out from our resort, we went to Rice Garden Museum. In there, you can experience rice planting and other activities at a reasonable price. Since we did not have much time, we just went to visit the museum and the entrance fee is free.

At 1.25pm, we leave Langkawi and that marks the end of our trip.
