Heat Escape: Cameron Highland (Part 2)
Hello!!
Continuing from part 1, there will be more adventures and flowers and plantations viewing as what's more can you do beside these? Well, I'm sure there are but there is not enough time for this short trip.
After the Lavender Garden, we went to yet another tea plantation. Apparently, it is the same one as we went earlier but in different location. The reason of stopping here?? Hmmmm... I wonder why?
In this tea plantation, there are 2 special adventures here. One is the Safari and, the other, the ATV adventure. Since we have never tried it before and besides plantation viewing, we lacked of activities and so we decided to go for the ATV adventure!!! It costs RM 45 per person, but if 2 people drove a car, it costs RM 60. Apparently, it's a promotional price so I doubt it will remain the same after that. We had to wait about 20 minutes before our guide came back from its job. The whole track is about 2.5km and it takes about 30 minutes.
The ATVs and the Safari |
After the short wait, we followed the guide up the hill. As we are all beginners, we used auto mode while the guide uses the manual mode. Since it is in auto mode, we only need to press a button and brakes.
See the small button on the right handle? Yes, that's the "oil pedal" and the location of brakes are similar to that of a bicycle. |
Up the hill we go!! It wasn't easy to control such big "bike" but I immediately got used to it. It is similar to riding a motorbike, but with 4 wheels and bulkier. Some ATVs weren't functioning normally as what told by my father and the other visitors. They had a hard time controlling the ATV.
About halfway through the track, we stopped for 5 minutes to enjoy the view.
Then, we continued our adventure. As we were riding through the hill, there's a faint smell of tea. It requires much concentration to smell it though. The adventure ended rather quickly, but it was the most fun activity I had today.
On to the next activity - flower viewing in Rose Valley!! It costs RM 4 per person.
Such cute dwarfs |
The rare black beauty |
Like the previous garden, there are other species of flowers in this valley too.
And my mother has took a liking to this flower: High heels
High heels |
There's also this really beautiful sea blue flower - Jade vine. But due to my poor phone camera, it turned out to be this colour.
There's also this strangely shaped tomato.
It's about time for lunch after all this visit. We decided to head to the nearest restaurant as my parents were starving. The nearest was the Water Crest Valley.
The Can't Really See board |
As we entered the restaurant, there are a few rows of freshly plant water crest.
The special feature of this restaurant is that every vegetables served here are planted by them. So, they are extremely fresh. There are many choices available to order in this restaurant, but we decided to order a traditional charcoal steamboat. The soup based is said to use true ingredient (black bean, cordyceps and one more ingredient which I don't know) and not MSG. It is a guaranteed fresh and healthy food. It costs RM 96 for 2-3 people.
The charcoal steamboat |
The food were way too much for all of us. We were seriously trying to shove everything into our stomach but we were still unable to finish it. In the end, we left a whole bunch of yellow noodles, in which we barely touched. As we did not know that there is a 1-2 people steamboat, we ordered 2-3 people steamboat. After done eating, we were able to visit their farm.
The whole view of the farm |
Then, it would be our final activity of the day. It supposed to be the highlight of this trip - Jungle trekking in Mossy Forest. As I've seen that this forest is really beautiful and it looks like the scenes in Avatar, I really wanted to see it for myself. So, we went to find this place. It is in the opposite direction of where Boh Tea Plantation is. And after about a kilometre, we arrived. The road, however, isn't in a best condition and it is very steep and narrow. We were in cold sweat when our car almost couldn't drive up the steep hill.

As we approached our destination:
The beautiful view |
Arrived at our destination:

The map. After the red line, then it's jungle trekking with no bridge |
According to the jungle trekkers that finished the jungle trekking as we arrived, it took 3 hours to and another 3 hours back to where we were. As we did not know that it takes time quite a long time to finish the trek, we only managed to finish the trek that they prepared for us. If I were to do more research, then it would have been a worthwhile trip. And this is how it turns from a highlight to a side trip. Anyways, there are still some nice view to enjoy.

The bridge |
Well, that's how it looks like. Foggy and eerie. If the outside looks like this, imagine how beautiful it will be deep inside the woods... It would be like a magical realm, no? I swear to be back here to venture deeper into the woods one day. One day!
As we went back down, I got to take some of the beautiful scenery.
We immediately headed down and checked in to our hotel. Our hotel is quite artsy, clean, safe and cheap. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to visit Cameron Highland.
Snooze Cameron Highland |
It's like a guesthouse as it has laundry, a refrigerator, a sink and chilling spaces. It also does not allow guests to wear shoes around the hotel.
The rooms are really wide and clean, but a little too dim.
After checking in and a little resting, we went out to search for a simple dinner. Since most of the restaurants are closed on Monday, there weren't much choices to choose. We ate anything that we could find and that's the end of our first day.
